Some more inspiration; Sketchbooks

Inspiration is something that sometimes is there in abundance and sometimes I have to dig deep. What I did recently is looking at other peoples sketch books. For most people sketchbooks are quite private and often people keep them to them self.

However, I’ve found a YouTube-channel associated with Drawing Tutorials Online On which amazing art students share their sketchbooks with the world. The images are stunning and I’m very impressed with the amount and quality of this and I do aspire to become as good as them.

Some of my favourites;

Gama’s Sketchbook

Omnaya’s Sketchbook Incredible Line

Oliver’s Sketchbook Part II

These people are very very talented and I love looking at the different things you could do in a sketchbook and also the very different styles. If you check these out do tell me which one you love! I’ve yet to see them all.

Great online teachers; Sycra Yasin

Not all of us have access to real-time art schools and teachers but the online world has a lot to offer!

Today I want to tell you about one of my favourite YouTube artist Sycra. He is a self taught mostly digital artist that does mostly freelance work and makes helpful YouTube videos.

In his videos he does not only discus basic drawing problems and tutorials but he also talks a lot about the industry and the real life of a freelance digital artist. His style is amazing but more amazingly is the fact that his whole style development is documented in a series called pointy chins.

He has art reviews, tutorials, interviews and and a lot of great live streams and speed paintings.

Some of the best videos are So You Wanna Be A Professional Artist? in which he is brutally honest but also very inspirational and Art Advice I’d Give Myself If I Had to Start From Scratch in which he talks about being a self-taught artist and what it takes and also some great materials.

Other videos that I would defiantly would recommend are his How to Practice Drawing video which really explains how to get good faster and A Talk About Drawing Styles In which he really talks about how you should start with the basics!

Further more, his site contains a section full of resources and a Forum where you can find a wonderful community of people that want to improve.

Please check him out and tell me which videos you like!
