1 simple trick to find the motivation to keep going

Monday I did not post for just one reason. I lost confidence and drive. I though I had no reason to continue because I did not have a reason for it too.

But despite everything I’m here today with the other posts. It might take some time to get my passion back but giving up isn’t an option.

There are ups and downs in any journey! So how do you get past dips in motivation and the feeling of utter despair?Β

Every journey has ups and downs. But how do you find the motivation to keep going?

When I dropped out of university I was so happy but I also felt lost. All my life I have worked toward science. When I was very little I already wanted to be a Biologist. I thought I would buy a house for my parents on an island and I would study seals. Your typical childhood dream.

I kept working towards that dream. Even if I changed it slightly. I didn’t study biology, but nanobiology and maybe that house on an island will be harder than I thought. All the math and science classes that I loved but now I might not ever use them.

That was sad to me, but I turned all that energy into this. A new start and then this weekend it felt like it failed all over again. No reason to go on and nothing to fight for. I can tell you that that wasn’t a great feeling.

But luckily I am back today and I thought I’d share this with you as well. Some of you are I the same business and I think it is important to know that feeling lost or not wanting to go on anymore is okay. It happens to te best of us.

Get back on the horse!

What really helped me this time, apart from the support of my family and friend who said they still were interested in this all, was something I only remembered then.

Something I used to use as motivation for school and uni a lot.

When I was in six grade I had a teacher that I was slightly afraid of. I also didn’t really like school because I was bored a lot there. But my grades were great.

One teacher-parent evening that teacher told my Mother that he thought I could do anything. I could do anything if I set my mind to it.

I think that is amazing. He saw so much potential in me and I was like 11 years old. This is something I try to make true. That indeed everything is possible if I set my mind to it.

I always thought that only counted for my academic life but why wouldn’t it be for starting a business. I think that if I put in the work and time this will succeed.

Find your thing

For me, it was that little quote that gets me up every single time. But it can be anything. Find those inspiring words that help you get up again and again.

Maybe it is something friend or family said, but it can also be something from a book or film. Just find the thing that sparks you with determination!

Or maybe take a look at my top 10 motivational quotes!

Finally, I wanted to leave you with the same. The ultimate motivation to go on. I believe that any of us can make it if we set our minds to it.

You might need to find alternatives or new ways, different goals like I did. But in the end, there is always something worth fighting for.

If you need any help I’m here!

So I hope you can find something in your past that can motivate you. That compliment from a teacher or that one thing you overcame. It has really Β helped me overcome a lot of things to keep this mind.

  • Hey there! The ‘down side’, although unwanted, is natural. Keep believing there’s a way. Search for it and understand it. You’re taking action and that is great. Assess your steps, adjust and act again! Allow your self some down time. I’m just learning this stuff ( within the last several years). I’m glad you’re not giving up. Thanks for your post. It has encouraged me too :^)
